Qaid e Tanhai is Umera Ahmed’s original TV script. Aired on Hum TV, it is a story of Moiz who wanted a better life for his family, and of Aisha, his wife, who just wanted Moiz with him. When Moiz leaves for UK in search for a better future, Aisha finds solace and support in form of a mutual friend, who later proposes to her. Upon realizing that Moiz may never return to her, a scared and confused Aisha accepts his proposal of marriage, only to hear him apologize that due to the pressue on him by his family, he may not marry her. Aisha’s mother in law hears the whole conversatio and instantly brands him a dishonored woman, and convinces her son to divorce her. Instead of doing that, Moiz punishes her even further – a lifetime of lonliness – Qaid e Tanhai. It is a story about dual standards of man and woman in Pakistani society, of love and betrayal and of sacrifice and regrets.
